Rxth Proves All Who Wander Are Not Lost

Singer-songwriter Rxth’s new release provides an ethereal soundtrack for “wanderers, starseeds and seekers”. Known for her dreamy vocals set against electronic beats, Rxth found inspiration for her five-track Songs for Wanderers EP in the pages of The Ra Material.

“The book of The Ra Material describes ‘wanderers’ as old souls coming back to Earth to help bring light during tumultuous times,” explains Rxth. “I was already interested in mystical and esoteric themes so I wanted to play with those concepts and write music that alludes to feelings of isolation, alienation, how the world can be a bit harsh sometimes; the struggle with waking up to yourself; the reality of life and being here.”

Out now, the EP includes two brand spanking new tracks – Wanderer and Hard To Be Human – plus an alternate version of Braveheart. Manifesting touches of Massive Attack, Wanderer features Rxth’s dreamy vocals atop otherworldly cosmic vibes. Jeremy D’s invitation to “wake up” punctuate the dreamscape before his spoken words ask big questions – think Baz Luhrmann over languid Billie Eilish beats. Hard To Be Human is an introspective ballad anchored in a “dark night of the soul”, while the new Gauthier Version gives Braveheart a sensuous melodic makeover.

Rejuvenation and Self-Worth

Lauded by BBC Introducing, Beauty in the Spaces and Starlight beef out the EP. A dusky electro-pop track, Beauty in the Spaces is a tale of rejuvenation and Starlight, produced by Ed Seed, is an affirming pop paean to self-worth, with Rxth’s sultry vocals carried along on a bed of rousing drums and celestial vocal coos.

Hailing from the UK, Rxth creates music for “people who think too much” and wears her influences on her sleeve. Expect reflections of Massive Attack, Portishead, Kate Bush, Tori Amos, Billie Eilish and even Nine Inch Nails. “I love how Trent Reznor has his very harsh industrial sounds but then complements them with really beautiful pianos and etheric soundscapes,” says Rxth. “Sonically, I really love to play with contrasts too: harsh and then beauty; masculine and feminine.”
