Werner Niedermeier

Good music doesn’t just grab your ears. It captures your imagination, heightens your senses and transports you to mysterious lands unknown. The new album from Werner Niedermeier has that affect. Out now, Time & Again is an ethereal yet explorative body of work. It journeys through sonic realms with grace and mastery, and it’s worth your attention.

German artist Werner Niedermeier has been mastering his craft for more than 25 years, fine-tuning his audio production, engineering and mastering skills. Over the years Niedermeier has put out music on respected labels like Supplement Facts, Phonica, Bedrock, Get Physical and Audiomatique. Now his 12-track album Time & Again appears on Scottish label Bulletdodge Records.

Eclectic

In keeping with Bulletdodge’s new musical direction, Werner has constructed an album that demonstrates his eclectic approach to composition and arrangement. It kicks off in meditative fashion with Soyo Kaze where dreamy undertones harmonise with organic drums and sparse textures. Global G combines sparkling tones, sweeping pads and stabbing synths. The intricate sound design continues in Electrum, with electro-tinged rhythms and humming low frequencies.

Cosmic Energy

The deep, broken-beat grooves, trippy melodies and dubby echoes of Odd Yssey give way to funk-fuelled synth links and floating arpeggios in All Alone. Kuchisabishii is a glitched-out, psychedelic cut and Get 2 Get R permeates with revolving FX, cosmic energy and calming chords.

Elsewhere, Thursday is a low-slung ambient affair with sluggish sonics and Lightbulb Moments floats on murmuring waves and shamanic humming. Level Unknown deploys slow-burning sequences, sludgy frequencies and heavenly builds until Clouded Thoughts – our fave track – enters with a cinematic feel. Rounding out the album, Täknology rides swells of ambience, poignant modulations and oceanic bliss.

Listen to the whole exquisite album here and enjoy the adventure in your head.
