Check Out the Launch Mix of our ‘crüCast’ Series from Dubai Marina

It’s a turn-up-the-volume kinda day as we celebrate the launch of crüCast – a series of DJ mixes created exclusively for iamCrü. The crüCast series will see our favourite UAE-based DJs popping in for a mix session on the iamCrü HQ balcony overlooking Dubai Marina.

Conor Rainey – aka R41N8Y – kicks off the crüCast series with two hours of delicious deep house. The natural choice to get the series underway, Conor was around when the idea for iamCrü took shape over a few sundowners. Now an integral part of the Crü family, his encouragement helped propel the platform from idea to actuality.

Resident in Dubai for four years, Conor hails from Ireland where he was electronic booker and DJ for POD Dublin, Electric Picnic and Forbidden Fruit. He’s also played at District 8, Opium Rooms, Life Festival and Mansion.

Tall Tales

Here in the UAE, Conor is Senior Event Safety Advisor & Production Manager at Jam Event Services. Keeping crowds safe at a wide range of events, including Redfest, Jazzfest and the New Year’s Eve Kiss gig at Atlantis, Conor has chalked up a few tales. Sure, the Kiss gig broke world records for Most Flame Throwers (73) and Tallest Flame (180 feet). But Conor’s tale of how roofs were removed from golf buggies to stop the band’s hair getting squished tickled us pink.

Conor was deployed to Saudi for the huge three-day MDLBEAST festival in 2019. “From the stage set-ups, line-ups, sound systems and production, MDLBEAST was mind-blowing,” said Conor. “Even a few years ago, I’d never have imaged an electronic music festival taking place in Saudi. Or that I’d be part of the team delivering it. The MDLBEAST crowd were really up for it and I caught great sets from Jimpster and Solomon. Lee Burridge’s set was also outstanding.”

Like most of us, Conor is itching to get back to clubbing. His first stop when Covid restrictions lift? “That’ll be The Hatch, in the underbelly of the QE2,” said Conor. “It’s the best club venue in Dubai, in my opinion.”

In the meantime, Conor is chuffed to be launching the crüCast series. “I’ve spent too many hours to count having a laugh on the iamCrü balcony,” said Conor. “From the day I stepped foot on that balcony I thought it’d be a great spot for a DJ session. It was great fun putting this mix together for the first crüCast. I can’t wait for other DJs to experience the balcony set up – and the banter that goes with it.”
