Podcast in progress

More and more people in the UAE are listening to podcasts. A new survey reveals more listeners than ever before are tuning into podcasts for music, entertainment, news and more.

Research firm markettiers asked over 1,000 adults in the UAE to reveal their podcast habits. The survey shows 37% of the UAE audience now listen to a podcast daily. That’s more than double the number of listeners tuning into podcasts daily in 2019. The global pandemic has fuelled the spike.

Genres

The top five podcast genres in the UAE are music (57%), comedy (40%), technology (33%), sports (28%) and news and politics (27%).

Cheryl King, Managing Director at markettiers MENA, said: “It’s time for brands to capitalise on this growing trend, which will continue to gain popularity. Podcasts are here to stay and are a proven method to communicate with a targeted audience.”

We’re partial to good podcasts here at iamCrü. Particularly podcasts that dive into the electronic music scene. Here’s three we highly recommend…
