Start the New Year with US House Legend Roger Sanchez at Barasti

Some tunes just instantly put a smile on your face, like Another Chance by Roger Sanchez. The house track might be 20 years old but it’s lost none of its feel-good factor. So we’re pretty sure Sanchez will drop the bona fide house classic when he headlines Barasti’s New Year’s Eve party.

Even people who aren’t into dance music have heard of Roger Sanchez. The legendary US DJ and producer fomented a tribal house sound that is uniquely his. Born and raised in Queens, Sanchez initially played hip-hop and breaks at block parties. Things changed when he discovered a percussive house sound, and he came up through the ranks alongside fellow New York DJs David Morales and Danny Tenaglia. His vocal-heavy style of house appealed to glamorous crowds in a way house music never had before.

Infectious

Sanchez’s impressive discography dates back to 1992. He’s turned out records as Roger S, S-Man, Tribal Infusion, The Neanderthal and Natural Born Lovers, each alias appealing to a slightly different musical niche. In 2003 he won a Grammy for his remix of Hella Good by No Doubt. In fact, Sanchez is a master at working the material of others into tracks just as infectious as his own. He’s reworked greats like Diana Ross to Daft Punk and Madonna to The Police.

Sanchez has dozens of mix compilations under his belt on various labels. But his best-known mix series is Release Yourself, his own brand that spawned sell-out parties and a long-running radio show.

Stealth

Furthermore, his Stealth Records imprint has built a solid reputation for quality house grooves. Rest assured Sanchez will play plenty of those during his DJ set at popular Dubai beach club Barasti, on Friday 31 December. Tickets for Barasti’s NYE party start from AED500 per person. Oh, and if you’re looking for an ideal Christmas gift for a Roger Sanchez fan… Sony Music recently put out a limited release vinyl picture disc of Another Chance to celebrate its 20th anniversary. “This track continues to resonate with audiences on the dancefloor,” said Sanchez. “I’m blessed to not only have it as one of my creations but to know that it still makes people dance and feel connected to this day.”
