LOR red landscape

LOR demonstrates his genre diversity with gorgeous melodic house cut ‘Kingdom Falling’ – a standout track on Anjunadeep’s new ‘Explorations’ EP.

The LA-based artist’s masterfully melancholic track for the label makes an artform of sadness. Supple, pensive beats roll deep, while mellifluous cosmic motifs flutter through the mix. But it’s the heavy minor theme that really makes an indelible mark, especially once paired with the track’s forlorn cyborg vocals. Superbly absorbing and futuristic, ‘Kingdom Falling’ sounds like the Daft Punk robots wallowing after a heart-wrenching romantic breakup, but with just enough energy in the twinkling arps to signal that things eventually will be OK.

“With ‘Kingdom Falling’, I tried to tell a story that blurs the line between mournful doom and eternal hope,” says Taylor Harrison, the talented young producer behind the LOR alias. With a little help from friends, LOR also created this brilliant video to accompany the track.

Breeding Ground

A superb breeding ground for new talent, Anjunadeep’s ‘Explorations’ series catapults the featured artists to a huge global audience and has ignited the careers of many. The latest installment – ‘Explorations 24’ – is another impressive showcase, with LOR standing tall among the selected producers.

Technically not a newcomer because of his work as half of the transatlantic duo LAIKIPIA, Harrison is carving his own solo lane. He debuted his LOR alias in May with ‘Warpdrive’, a full-throttle, high impact breaks cut loaded with electrifying tension. Next came the exotic vocals and thrilling breaks of ‘To The Rhythm’, another cosmic thrill ride into aggression and beauty. Often drawing on the widescreen and immersive nature of cinematic soundscapes, LOR’s style combines rich, detailed atmospheres with real dancefloor physicality and ‘Kingdom Falling’ shows us another side of his intergalactic sounds.
