Lace Up and Hit the Roller Disco at RollDXB!
Do you know your duck walk from a spread eagle? Truth be told, neither did we until we googled ‘roller skating moves’. We’ll be busting these moves when we hit RollDXB – Dubai’s new roller skating rink. Although just staying upright will be a major achievement.
Located in Mina Rashid, RollDXB is Dubai’s homegrown roller skating concept. With an outdoor skate park and indoor arena, there’s plenty of space to roll around. “We followed our dream,” say RollDXB’s creators, “bringing together all types of skaters to build a dedicated roller rink supported by social skate meet-ups, roller events and party pop-ups.”
Skills
RollDXB offers skate jams, roller fit sessions, roller derby (for the seriously hardcore) and artistic skating sessions. Or try street hockey or ramp skating. Take a class if you want to improve your skills. RollDXB also offers private and group skating lessons. You can rent retro roller boots at the venue and all the safety gear you’ll need.
Roller Disco
A roller disco is right up our street. And we’re not the only ones. Carl Cox and Eric Powell called upon Impala’s skaters to join them on stage during their Mobile Disco at Melbourne’s Piknic Electronik. And Simon Dunsmore’s Glitterbox hosted pre-club roller discos in the main room at London’s Ministry of Sound. So we’re digging out our legwarmers for RollDXB’s Roller Disco Experience.
Find RollDXB at Shed 3, Marina Cubes Street, Dubai Maritime City. It’s open daily and you’ll find all the admission and pricing info here.
Still contemplating? Well, watch these roller skating music videos to put you in the mood.
