Café Mambo Ibiza Planning Stately Affair for ‘Classics In The Park’

Clubbing in Ibiza is a rite of passage for dance music fans the world over. How many crazy stories do you have from the island? Do certain tunes transport you right back there? Us too. Well, if you’re heading back to England in August here’s a date for your diary. Café Mambo Ibiza is throwing a huge outdoor house party on Friday 13 August. And it’s in the stunning grounds of Stonor Park stately home, in Henley on Thames. Fancy.

‘Classics In The Park’ will reignite magical memories of the white isle. Roger Sanchez, The Shapeshifters, Todd Terry and Jason Bye – DJs synonymous with the island – will drop the massive tunes that soundtracked generations of Ibiza adventures.

The DJs

Stealth Records boss Roger Sanchez led the global New York house explosion in the ’90s. His ‘Release Yourself’ parties at Pacha and Amnesia rocked and he continues to play in Ibiza for Defected and Glitterbox.

The Shapeshifters delivered one of Ibiza’s best loved tracks – Lola’s Theme. Shapeshifter Simon Marlin has released tracks on Defected Records since 2008, with more releases coming soon on disco house label Glitterbox.

Todd Terry’s remixes of I’ll House You by Jungle Brothers and Missing by Everything But The Girl helped shape the direction of house music. And Jason Bye, who first played for Mambo in 1995, is the quintessential Ibiza veteran.

The Live PAs

‘Classics In The Park’ will feature two very special live PAs. Julie McKnight will fly in to perform her seminal hit Finally, which she recorded with Kings of Tomorrow – a true Ibiza anthem. And Robin S will perform her global smash Show Me Love, one of the most recognisable house tracks ever.

Travels Well

A trip to the white isle doesn’t count if you haven’t sipped a sundowner at Café Mambo Ibiza. It’s been the place to meet, watch the sun go down and party to big name DJs for over 25 years. The special Mambo vibe travels well too, as evidenced at parties in Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Beirut, Bahrain and here in Dubai in recent years.
