Dubai Musos Handpicked for Power Horse Stream Sessions
Great to see some Dubai faces handpicked for the new season of Power Horse Stream Sessions. Showcasing “the most exciting Middle East and South Asia talents”, season two of the immersive audio visual experience brings sets from Shadi Megallaa, Omar Fayyad and Dia Hassan into your home.
Founder of Dubai record store The Flip Side, Shadi is also label boss at Ark to Ashes. The DJ and producer recently released the E.X.P EP on his imprint, which includes a collaboration with fellow Egyptian and Dubai resident Omar Fayyad. Both Shadi and Omar DJ for Dubai’s Analog Room crew.
Dia Hassan, meanwhile, is another familiar face in the UAE. The talented musician (pictured above) is also an in-demand film producer. During last year’s lockdown in Dubai, Dia wrote a number of new tracks as “a form of meditation and therapy”. Dia then ventured into the desert to perform the tracks live. Check out the result – the Sunrise Sessions – here.
Reggae Rajah
Some party people will also remember MoCity – another talented DJ and MC who called Dubai home for a number of years before relocating to India. Co-founder of the Reggae Rajahs sound system, MoCity is behind boxout.fm, South Asia’s first online community radio. MoCity also provides one of the Power Horse Stream Sessions this time out.
The Power Horse Stream Sessions kick off weekly from Tuesday 24 August for eight weeks. Ana Lilia (India), Cosmicat (Saudi), Tasnneem (India) and Vinyl Mode (Saudi) deliver the remaining sets. Each stream will also showcase the artist’s culture and roots through images.
“With Covid restrictions still in place, nightlife is not the same in most parts of the world,” said a spokesperson for the energy drink. Filling “this void”, the Power Horse Stream Sessions allow music lovers to “get acquainted with fresh talent”. Catch the streams via Power Horse’s Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok channels.
