2ND SUN Festival Dawns in the UAE

This is hot! 2ND SUN lands in the UAE for the first time this weekend. The two-day event showcases a brilliant mix of global and regional talent. Part of Abu Dhabi Art Fair, it features live performances and DJ sets. Mind Against, Patrice Bäumel and Âme headline, with Bedouin Burger, Felukah and Megatronic repping the region.

2ND SUN in Abu Dhabi is a collaboration between Abu Dhabi Art Fair, Factory People and Brag. The festival launched in Beirut before expanding into Egypt. The Abu Dhabi edition also features Fango Live Band, Trikk b2b with a special guest, Terr, Shkoon, Wass and Patch b2b with Ledwarf.

Heat

2ND SUN brings the heat to Manarat Al Saadiyat, on Thursday 18 and Friday 19 November. It kicks off each night at 6pm through until 3am. Abu Dhabi Art Fair ticket holders can enjoy complimentary access. But it’s first-come, first-served due to limited capacity so get there nice and early. Proceeds from the event will support the region’s emerging artists.

Regional Stars

Let’s take a closer look at some of the regional stars. Bedouin Burger is Lebanese icon Zeid Hamdan and Syrian singer Lynn Adib. Under the moniker, they create a fusion of Bedouin music and contemporary electronica. Hailing from Cairo and New York, neo-soul artist Felukah frequently switches between English and Arabic. Felukah explores cultural issues through her verse. And Megatronic is a Dubai-based DJ, producer and singer-songwriter. With releases on Turntables on the Hudson, Megatronic also hosts the Global Music Movement show on Worldwide FM.

Abu Dhabi Art Fair brings together local and international galleries. It’s a mix of exhibitions, artist commissions and installations, with artwork also for sale. Tickets are a snip at AED55. Guests must show an Al Hosn Green Pass and 96-hour negative PCR test. With 2ND SUN now part of the art fair, we say, get involved!
