Let’s be honest, none of us expected 2020 to unfold the way it did when we celebrated New Year’s Eve last year. Bring on 2021 quick style, we say, so we can turn the corner into a year when the world recalibrates. Counting down to 2021 with Adriatique at Soho Garden is one way to get the New Year off to a good start.

Purveyors of lush melodic techno, Adriatique is the talented duo of Adrian Naird and Adrian Alahs. Both from Zurich, the lads met in 2008 and quickly forged a solid friendship based on their love for electronic music. A year later they were producing tracks and playing out as Adriatique – and they haven’t looked back since.

Initially, Diynamic label boss Solomun took the pair under his wing after they sent him some of their early productions. As with all of Diynamic’s artists, Solomun acted as a mentor, guiding Adriatique through the process of putting out a slew of emotive, contemporary joints. This lead on to releases with Culprit and OFF and tour dates across the globe.

Brightest Talents

Today, Adriatique are the among the scene’s brightest and most consistent talents. With releases also out on Afterlife, Counter and Watergate, the Adrians launched their own record label in 2016. They kicked Siamese into life with their three-track Patterns of Eternity EP. Siamese has since put out tracks by Tim Green (under his Apir alias), Marino Canal, Matthew Dekay and Sebastian Mullaert.

The Siamese Anthology III compilation is out now and combines tracks the Adrains were playing mostly before the pandemic started. “This release consists of tracks that get played in the more melodic part of our sets,” said the lads.

Their passion for Adriatique burns as fiercely today as it did over a decade ago – just don’t call it a ‘project’. “To just call it a project would be a fierce understatement,” they have said before. “Adriatique is friendship; creativity; compromise; being together for days on end; experiencing things together for the first time; birth; rebirth; joy and pain; but above all, Adriatique is music.”

The Adriatique NYE gig at Soho Garden will be socially distanced, of course, but the music will be outstanding. Table reservations are a must. Contact Soho Garden for more info.
