Hey, House Heads! ‘Falling for You’ by Freqish Hits the Sweet Spot
We’re prancing into the Eid holidays with the new feelgood house gem from Freqish. Falling for You is the Denver-based producer’s first release on Nervous Records – the legendary NY imprint for quality house and hip-hop. And it hits the sweet spot.
Falling for You has all the ingredients to make house heads happy. Think piano chords, a bouncing bassline, sultry vocal riffs, a melodic breakdown and live instrumentals. Freqish invited Jason Whitmore to collaborate on the track and his saxophone solo adds extra groove. Check out the two-minute soundbite below.
Hope
Freqish is Canadian DJ, producer and sound engineer Brandon Lee’s latest moniker. “I made this track in the middle of a pandemic, which oddly enough is when I actually found true love,” said Brandon. “I felt solace for others who were lonely in their homes with limited human connection and wanted to give people a reason to find hope through a dire time. Even in the darkness, you can find light if you just let the music guide you.”
Raw Energy
Under his Freqish concept, Brandon’s invites instrumentalists onboard to capture the raw energy of a live band. “When I was an intern at a studio in Chicago I always loved the vibe that came from getting artists together,” said Brandon. “When you get a bunch of creative minds in one space, it’s like magic.
“Now, through the internet we have the ability to connect with one another, which is truly beautiful. I spend a lot of time on the phone with my artists trying to understand their creative process. I don’t tell them how to create, I just let their soul do the talking.”
Pedigree
While previous Freqish cuts appeared on InStereo Recordings and Dirtybird Records, Falling for You is out now on Nervous Records – a label with undisputable pedigree. Founded in 1990, Nervous is one of the longest standing independent record labels in the US. It helped amplify the careers of Armand Van Helden, Masters at Work and Josh Wink. Master at Work Louie Vega’s album – Expansions in the NYC – will drop on the label this summer.
