Shepard Fairey is heading to Dubai. The world-renowned artist, who emerged from the US skateboarding scene, brings his ‘Future Mosaic’ exhibition to Opera Gallery next month. What’s more, he’ll create an exclusive mural at an as-yet undisclosed location.

The ‘Future Mosaic’ exhibition will feature new works by Shepard Fairey on canvas, paper, wood and metal. Some of his iconic images will also be on show. Sylvain Gaillard, Director at Opera Gallery Dubai, revealed the exhibition has been “in the works” for more than a year.

Values

“I’m very excited to show in Dubai. I’m a big fan of the Middle East and its rich culture,” said Fairey. His hand-picked art pieces for the show will reflect Dubai’s values. “I hope people will get an understanding of my belief that we are world citizens and that we all have a lot in common,” he added. “The principles of respect, fairness and equality should be global traits and art has a role in shaping people’s attitudes about these principles.”

During his time in the Emirate, Fairey will also create a stunning mural in the heart of Dubai. The location for the mural will be revealed soon. To date, Fairey has painted more than 105 public murals.
