So DJs are finally back behind the decks in Dubai! Hurray for that. Admittedly, still no dancing allowed. But that doesn’t mean we can’t shoulder shake and shimmy from a sun lounger. Like all the DJs we know, the DJ team at Bla Bla – Jas, Burlene and Stu Laurie – were itching to play out again and drop their favourite tunes that perfectly soundtrack the sun dipping below the horizon. That magical moment when day slips into night.

So if you’re down at Bla Bla Beach Club as the sun sets, here’s a few tunes you might hear…

Fish Go Deep feat Tracey K, The Cure & The Cause (Defected)

DJ Jas: I was on my very first girls’ holiday when this song came out in 2004. It became our holiday anthem. To this day, it’s a timeless classic that makes people vibe.

Regard, Ride It (Ministry of Sound Recordings)

DJ Burlene: I first heard this track when I was at the beach with my friends, who I hadn’t seen in a while. Something about the vibe of the song, the beach and the people I was with made it so memorable. Every time this song comes on it reminds me of that moment and puts me in in a great mood.

Orbital, Belfast (London Records)

Stu Laurie: This is a little more out there but always brings back memories of Ibiza for me. It’s a perfect track to celebrate the end of day and get the party started.

Peggy Gou, Starry Night (Gudu Records)

DJ Jas: This song came out in 2019 but it reminds me of last year. We were in complete lockdown and I was planning to start live streaming my sets. This was blasting while I was watching the sunset from my balcony, and I remember feeling super happy and grateful. I played this as my first song on my first ever live stream and the comments asking about the track name were endless.

Stevie Appleton Paradise (with Sam Feldt) (Heartfeldt Records)

DJ Burlene: I’m a huge fan of the Rayjay and Brandy’s cover of this song. But I like this cover because it’s not so serious. It has chill and positive vibes and still delivers those deep and meaningful lyrics.

Danny Tenaglia, Music is the Answer (Stu Laurie Balearic Sunset Mix) (White Label)

Stu Laurie: I had to include this. I created this track when I first came moved to Dubai. I tailored it around my sunset sets at Café Del Mar and it always went down a treat.

PS: DJ Jas is nominated in the Best DJ category in this year’s Black Excellence Middle East Awards. Winners will announced on Friday 4 June.
