Deezer Reveals What The UAE’s Been Listening To In 2020
Music streaming platform Deezer has revealed the UAE’s most streamed artists, tracks, albums and podcasts – based on users’ listening habits.
“Streaming helped us all cope with lockdowns. It is no surprise the top tracks in the UAE this year are upbeat, yet filled with yearning,” said Deezer’s Mark Abou Jaoude. “We also saw listeners pivot to podcasts for inspiration, self-improvement and entertainment.
Top Artist
The Weeknd is the UAE’s most streamed artist, with Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa not far behind in second and third places. They were followed by Justin Bieber and BTS, whose phenomenal success has brought K-pop to a global audience.
Top Female Artist
Billie Eilish and Dua Lipa are this year’s most popular female artists among UAE listeners, with Ariana Grande in third place.
Top Track
Tracks released in 2019 held strong this year. Released last year, Dance Monkey by Tones and I is the most streamed song of 2020 on Deezer. Same goes for Blinding Lights by The Weeknd and Dua Lipa’s Don’t Start Now.
Top Album
Billie Eilish takes the No.1 spot in the Deezer rankings for the UAE’s most played album of 2020 with When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? The Weeknd’s After Hours climbs to the second spot, followed by Please Excuse Me For Being Antisocial by Roddy Ricch, and Eminem’s Music To Be Murdered By. Lebanese superstar Elissa’s Sahbit Raey album rounds out the Top 5.

UAE listeners turned to TED Talks Daily during lockdown. It’s the top podcast of 2020 followed by Myths and Legends and Business Wars.
