Darius Syrossian Plunges Down Rabbit Hole with Jefferson Airplane Re-Rub

Reworking a classic is always a gamble. But DJ and producer Darius Syrossian pulls the rabbit out of the hat with his new release. Syrossian takes Jefferson Airplane’s White Rabbit and re-rubs it for today’s dancefloors. Released by the American psychedelic rock band in 1967, the track is a cult classic from that era. Now Syrossian has reworked it into a chunky main room cut.

Darius Syrossian kept his version of White Rabbit up his sleeve for some time. Demonstrating his breadth of musical influences, the Moxy Musik label boss created the re-rub just before the world went into lockdown. Road-testing the track, Syrossian worked it into his DJ sets at clubs this summer. He popped out a limited white label release on his own Moxy Edits imprint after clubbers kept requesting the track ID. Now Defected has picked it up for a full digital release.

Defected Discog

With its refreshed vocal and reverberating guitar riffs, White Rabbit marks Syrossian’s return to Simon Dunmore’s globally renowned label. He debuted on the label in 2019 with Rushing – a collaboration with Jamie Jones. His discog with the label also includes Come On, Come On, and his disco flavoured two-tracker Tivoli’s Groove/Mustang 74 on DFTD. Check out the Extended Club Mix of White Rabbit below. Play it loud and go down the rabbit hole.

Affinity

Darius Syrossian joins the Defected family on New Year’s Eve for a huge party at London’s Printworks. He’ll spend New Year’s Night in his home town, rocking out his Moxy Musik party at Manchester’s Joshua Brooks club. Syrossian has a close affinity with Joshua Brooks. He was heavily involved with the club’s summer refurb and especially the design of the DJ booth.
