Add Birds of Mind to Your Music Shopping List

It’s our duty to pop the soon-come new album from Birds of Mind on your radar. We’ve wrapped our ears around a promo copy of Journey and it’s magically mellow. With the album dropping on Kindisch, on 10 December, we recommend you add the longplayer to your music shopping list.

Paris-based duo Alex H and Adrian C are the producers behind Birds of Mind. Alex studied filmmaking in New York and picked up a passion for electronic music while travelling the world. He now spends half his year DJing on the island of Mykonos and is inspired by being close to nature. Adrian was born into a Venezuelan family of classical music artists. He studied the violin and piano at the Conservatory of Paris before making his way into musique concrète.

Together as Birds of Mind, the lads compose electronic music nourished by the exploration of organic sounds and ancient chants. Birds of Mind will return to Get Physical in 2022 after debuting on the revered label in 2019. But first comes their Journey album.

Deep and Delicate

We can’t share any tracks from the longplayer just yet but we can give you an album breakdown. Birth of the Phoenix opens up with ambient pads and swirling, wordless vocals that are immediately soothing. With its heartfelt house groove, Mindgame is deliciously deep and delicate. Intoxicating vocals, found sounds and plenty of natural sonic details embellish dubby cut The Tree of Knowledge. Elegant, with celestial melodies, La Maison Bleue sits next to the cosmic ambience and lush layered synths of It’s Me.

The second half of the album starts with the floating grooves and expressive Spanish vocals of Wing Flapping. With its deft instrumentation, Dropping Seeds of Life is a romantic late-night house track and Inside Your Head is a melancholic lullaby. Deep bass and intoxicating jazzy sax define The Void Between Us and Finale closes out with gorgeously optimistic chords, cosmic motifs and glassy melodies.

An escapist listen from Birds of Mind, Journey is for thinkers and dreamers. We’ve got it on repeat.
