The Great Escape: Bachir Salloum’s Weekly Party Returns Refreshed at SoBe

The first four days of the week are always the toughest, right? Well, now you can ‘Escape’ into every weekend with like-minded party people and an über cool selection of DJs. Dubai-based DJ and producer Bachir Salloum relaunches his weekly Escape party, on Thursday 7 October. The new season brings a fresh venue, a great vibe and exciting line-ups – with Spanish DJ Marino Canal making his Dubai debut at Escape this weekend.

Escape’s new Thursday night home at SoBe, in the W Hotel, is picture perfect. The only rooftop bar on the Palm Jumeirah, the venue boasts outdoor and indoor space, with incredible views. “SoBe is a beautiful spot,” said Salloum, who claims the Escape concept is “somewhat different” from other parties around town.

“Our vision is to not only showcase international artists but also the immense talent we have here in the UAE and the region. Often times, local artists are ignored and not given headlining spots; at Escape, we intend to change that.”

Mix

Indeed, there’s a fantastic mix of both international and local talent already secured for the weeks ahead. The “phase one” line-up also includes international DJs Budakid and Tim Green. Deian, Maks, Shadi Megallaa, Smokingroove, Mario Bazouri and Somalie are among the local DJs representing. “Our internationals have a unique sound that will really appeal to the crowd,” said Salloum. “We’ll be introducing a few new DJ names to Dubai, which we feel is essential. As for the locals, we’ve included the best the UAE has to offer.”

Blown Away

Thursday’s headliner Marino Canal has released tracks on a number of great labels, including Nicole Moudaber’s MOOD, Jeremy Olander’s Vivrant, Guy J’s Lost & Found and Adriatique’s Siamese. Salloum predicts clubbers will be “completely blown away by his musicality”.

“Marino first popped up on my radar when he released on the Lost & Found label – a label I closely follow and admire. It’s been exciting and inspirational to follow his musical growth. He’s an artist I very much love listening to. Marino has a way of hypnotising the crowd – and I can’t wait for him to do that to us this Thursday. “I can’t tell you just how excited we are,” added Salloum. “The relaunch of Escape has been a long time coming and having Marino debut with us is super special. Many artists who come to Dubai for the first time don’t know what to expect, so we hope he leaves here with a smile and a sense of excitement to come back again.”

The Escape relaunch also features rising talent Aleph Kaf and “King of the Grooves” Hoolz. “Aleph has a mature taste, a specific sound and always delivers great music,” said Salloum. “Hoolz is a pioneer in Dubai’s music industry and scene so it makes perfect sense to have him play a part in the season opening. We’re super proud and happy to be hosting both.”

Furthermore, Salloum promises to drop some fresh bombs in his own set. “I’ll road-test some new material I’ve been working on lately and I’ll get the crowd ready for what Marino will deliver.”
