Paul van Dyk Brings his Epic Shine Party to Dubai’s Coca-Cola Arena
Hot on the heels of remixing Energy 52’s classic Cafe Del Mar track, trance legend Paul van Dyk brings his epic Shine party to Dubai this coming weekend. The German DJ is hailing his Shine DXB gig at the Coca-Cola Arena as “a once in a lifetime experience”.
Paul van Dyk’s Shine parties at Eden Ibiza are the biggest trance gigs on the White Isle. Now PvD is promising “a unique and authentic Ibiza-style experience for dance music fans” in Dubai when Shine takes over the Coca-Cola Arena on Thursday 19 August. While Paul Van Dyk headlines, popular Egyptian duo Aly & Fila provide energetic support.
Devotion
Emerging onto the scene in 1990, Paul van Dyk is a trance king and his devotion to the genre has never faltered. “To me, trance music is the most real and direct form of electronic music,” said the Vandit Records boss. “It is the freshest genre of all. My music is a window into my soul.”
The DJ and producer did veer into ambient territory with last year’s Escape Reality album – all chill out reworks of his hit singles. The more trancetastic Guiding Light longplayer – PvD’s 10th album – followed a few months later. More recently, van Dyk turned in two reworks of Energy 52’s Cafe Del Mar – a bona fide trance classic – for Superstition Records. For purists, his Shine Remix packs late ’90s atmosphere. His XOXO Remix slows the tempo and employs crisp percussion and deep, pulsing bass while still maintaining the out-and-out exhilaration of that epic breakdown. Listen to the XOXO Remix below.
Charitable Endeavours
When he’s not behind the decks or in the studio, PvD spends a lot of time pursuing charitable endeavours. His Berlin-based charity organisation Rückenwind helps underprivileged children.
Tickets for Paul van Dyk at the Coca-Cola Arena start at AED159 and the show begins at 9pm. All attendees must be fully vaccinated and wear a face mask. In the meantime, PvD’s Sunday Sessions provide the perfect pre-gig warm-up.
