5 Great Music Videos to Celebrate the UAE Tour

The world’s best cyclists will whizz through Dubai on the penultimate stage of this year’s UAE Tour. Top-class riders including Adam Yates, Tadej Pogačar, Chris Froome, Vincenzo Nibali and Filippo Ganna will battle it out over 165kms from Deira Islands to Palm Jumeirah.

Cycling is a big deal in the UAE. Part of UAE Team Emirates, Tadej Pogačar won the Tour de France last year. It was the first time the young Slovenian had entered the famous bike race. Just 21 at the time, Pogačar became the youngest winner since 1904. Team Emirates finished in second place in last year’s UAE Tour. To cheer Pogačar and his teammates on as they race through Dubai today, Friday 26th February, download the Stage 6 route map.

Legs Pumping

Now for the tenuous link. When they’re not fist pumping, several high-profile DJs like to get their legs pumping. Each year, key music industry players cycle from Paris to ADE, in Amsterdam, to raise cash for Bridges for Music. The Bridges for Music charity supports electronic music education in disadvantaged communities and developing countries.

Pedal Power

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, ADE was cancelled last year. But that didn’t stop a gang of riders from getting on their bikes. The annual Bridges for Music charity cycle moved online. Some of the world’s top DJs, music executives, promoters and other industry figures took part in an eight-hour virtual relay race. Riders from Armada, Defected and Awakenings demonstrated their pedal power. Richie Hawtin, Pan-Pot, Gigee, Rebekah, Floyd Lavine, Juliet Fox, Goldfish and Pete Tong displayed alternative spinning skills.

To celebrate the UAE Tour and with bikes on our mind, we’ve selected our Top 5 music videos with a cycling theme.
