HedKandi Brings New Year Cheer To Dubai

Looking for a New Year’s Eve suggestion? If you love feel-good house music and powerful diva vocals, two HedKandi NYE parties in Dubai could be just the ticket. Founder of the iconic brand, Mark Doyle brings the sparkle to two special NYE sessions – one day-time and one night-time – at Breeze Beach Grill.

UK record label HedKandi well deserves its place in dance music history. Doyle launched the label in 1999, while working at Jazz FM. The compilation series – with its distinctive Jason Brooks’ artwork – sold millions of copies around the world.

Contrary to popular belief, Doyle never actually owned HedKandi. After building its global successful, Doyle left the brand when Jazz FM’s parent company was sold to GMG Radio. Jason Brooks signed up to design the artwork for Doyle’s new Tokyo Project compilation series. But Mark’s Tokyo Project faltered when HedKandi launched legal action contesting the new label’s rights to use Brooks’ illustrations. After winning a prolonged court battle, Doyle launched the Fierce Angel label and brand in 2006, and GMG sold HedKandi to Ministry of Sound.

Returned Home

In a lovely twist in the tale, Doyle “returned home to be reunited with Team Kandi”. Invited to play most gigs on HedKandi’s 20th Anniversary World Tour last year, he is once again entrenched with the label he started.

While gigs this year have been in short supply due to the global Coronavirus pandemic, Doyle and his guests have been keeping the HedKandi faithful entertained with live streams from Ibiza and a weekly radio show on Mixcloud.
