DTLA label boss Redux Saints in black and white shadow

With club events out of the window for most of the year, LA-based DJ and producer Redux Saints has concentrated on building his Deep Tech Los Angeles (DTLA) label. Eighteen months on from its launch, DTLA is making an impact on the house and techno scene and has now pulled together its tracks of the year for the Deep Tech Los Angeles 2020 compilation.

Eric Prydz, Mark Knight, Anja Schneider, Roger Sanchez, Claptone and Solardo are label fans. Founded by Jason Trevor Miller, aka Redux Saints, the label has continued to innovative throughout 2020. It launched the Deep Tech Loft Party livestreams and the Deep Tech Lockdown Sessions compilations. It also continues to expand its roster of underground talent.

Run of Form

DTLA label boss Redux Saints makes several appearances on the 29-track compilation. His productions veer from dark and driving tech to peak time tribal beats and deeper, more stripped-back jams. That’s Right, Stay Home! and To My Beat feature, along withhis remix of Give Me A Reason, which he produced under his melodic techno alias Placebo eFx’s. Redux Saints continued his fine run of form with signing to Low Ceiling, Stealth, Incorrect Music and Toolroom Records.

NYC-based artist Charles D’s Feel is included – one of the biggest tunes of the year for the label. He also contributes B Side and both tracks are full flavour, modern tech-house. Label regular Notorious Lynch contributes his slinky house track Groover and the pulsing, percussive drum workout Get Ready, Don’t Stop. Scene stalwart D.Ramirez reps with his Psycho track, and Shayne Fontaine turns in his tense and grimy Save Me. Out now, the compilation also showcases ones-to-watch Brad Wood, ACAY and Kristone. Spoofs

The DTLA main man is also raising laughs with his spoof videos for “DJ essentials” – the DJ Request Stun Stick, the DJ Pee Jug and Hater-Aid ointment. The Hater-Aid ointment carries an adverse reactions warning – “Seek medical attention if you join a country band, think Skrillex invented house music or have a desire to wear black deep V-neck t-shirts.” Check out the spoof videos via the label’s Facebook page here.
