Boasting a mini-festival vibe, new event FamilyBeatz delivers the answer to many parents’ prayers. Recognising that numerous parents aren’t ready to hang up their dancing shoes, FamilyBeatz is a fun daytime party in Dubai where parents can get their rave on while the kids throw shapes, not tantrums.
“For too long, parents have sacrificed their right to party from the moment the kids are born,” says co-founder, DJ and party organiser Gail Clough. “We want to enable a new wave of entertainment where the adults can enjoy themselves as much as the kids.” It’s a sentiment backed up by FamilyBeatz co-founder and working mum Kerry Bowen-Pacaud. “Becoming a mum is challenging enough but a dying social life is tragic,” says Kerry. “We want to change that! I want to enjoy myself on the dancefloor just like I used to, and there are plenty of other parents who’d love to relive those crazy days of youth, happy in the knowledge the kids are having fun too.”
A monthly event run by parents and seasoned ravers, FamilyBeatz kicks off at Media Rotana Hotel, Barsha Heights, Dubai, on Sunday 26 February, from 3pm – 6pm. So Much Heat DJs Dan and Kristian – known for their pop-up parties and Ibiza Global Radio 95.3FM show – will crank up the heat with the best club classics. And kids of all ages are invited to dress up as their favourite superhero. While the focus is on keeping kids under eight years old entertained, children of all ages are welcome.
“We are excited to bridge the gap between parents feeling too tired to go out at night and the chance to enjoy a relaxed, informal mini-festival environment, without having to worry about babysitters, late nights or the kids upsetting other guests,” says Kerry. More info and tickets here.
