Placebo eFx portrait shot with blue tint

Buckle up! We’re taking a trip half-way round the world for our latest music pick. Deep Tech Los Angeles (DTLA) label boss Jason Miller adopts his Placebo eFx moniker for new track, Running. Out now, it’s a sweet dive into cosmic melodic techno that underscores Miller’s diversity as a producer.

The Chicago-born producer is better known for his stream of tech-house releases on labels like Low Ceiling, Stealth, Incorrect Music and Toolroom. But when he isn’t creating tech-house as Redux Saints, Miller enjoys experimenting with more progressive and melodic techno sounds. As Placebo eFx, Miller has caught the ears of Pete Tong, Riva Starr, Joseph Capriati, Gus Gus and more. The last production under his alternative moniker, Give Me A Reason, hit the top spot in Beatport’s Best New Hype Chart. Now the LA-based producer follows up with the stylish Running – his first 2021 output as Placebo eFx.

Wormhole

Filled with sleek cosmic synth lines and rich sonic details, Running plunges the listener into a mysterious spacetime wormhole. Rolling beats carry on a wave of emotion as ethereal melodies and a hypnotic vocal push the track onwards. Don’t take our word for it, give it a listen below.

Impact

Less than two years on from its launch, Miller’s DTLA label is making an impact on the house and techno scene. As well as on outlet for his own productions, DTLA has released tracks from D.Ramirez, Charles D (USA), Chesser, Matt Caseli, Husko and Chapter and Verse. The label rounded out 2020 with a 29-track showcase compilation.

There’s no rest for the wicked. Miller’s latest Redux Saints offering – Break Yourself on HoTL Records – is also out now.
