All Decked Out: Will New Nightclub on the QE2 Float Your Boat?

Attention shipmates! A new nightclub in Dubai promises to rock the boat – quite literally. Float Dubai will bring clubbing action to the highest outdoor deck of the QE2 from early October. As venues go, we think this one is inspired. The club will open three nights a week – Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The music policy covers urban to electronic with the best local and international DJs anchoring each party.

We’ve long said the deck of the famous ocean liner is an idyllic spot to dance under the stars. Docked at Port Rashid and now a floating hotel, the QE2 is steeped in history. The late great David Bowie famously sailed from London to New York on the QE2 in 1972 to unveil his Ziggy Stardust alter ego. During the Atlantic crossing Bowie penned songs for his Aladdin Sane album. During the ’90s, Robert Smith and The Cure embarked on two US tours after making transatlantic crossings on the ship.

Shipshape

Open from 10pm – 3am and hailed as “the world’s largest floating nightclub”, Float Dubai opens on Thursday 7 October. The shipshape venue can hold up to 1000 guests. Clubbers can enjoy free entry and there’s a minimum spend for table reservations.

We don’t know the DJ line-up for the opening weekend yet. However a post on the club’s Insta page – which is super classy – states “In Techno We Trust”. So here’s hoping one of our favourite techno titans is handed the Captain’s hat during the opening weekend. Stranger things have happened at sea, as they say.
