Aeli against glass building

Our pal Aeli has ventured into the world of movie soundtracks. The former Dubai resident has composed music for Emirati director Aiham Al Subaihi’s short movie Forthcoming.

A fan of Aeli’s Zoetrope EP from 2018, Al Subaihi reached out to the DJ and producer to soundtrack several scenes from his action comedy. Describing the film as a “Bedouin Kung-Fu movie”, Al Subaihi put his trust in Aeli’s vision and interpretation, giving Aeli free reign on the music.

Desert Vistas

Aeli’s first original soundtrack, Forthcoming features two instrumentals and a bonus track. Horse Scene conjures up the majesty of sweeping desert vistas with its thundering bass offset by tinkling Middle Eastern chimes. A music video made by German digital artist Vacades to accompany the track is on its way. Bookended by haunting atmospherics, Fight Scene is on a more aggressive trap tip with the brutal bass front and centre.

KC Hamada gets in on the EP bonus track action on the Fight Scene (KC Hamada Remix). Switching between smooth and fierce delivery, the rapper’s flow matches the track’s intensity and unusual structure. Check it out below:

Little Too High

Tunisian-born Aeli moved from Dubai to Los Angeles late 2019. Last year he produced his fantastic Good Bye series of collaborative singles. For the series, Aeli teamed up with his favourite artists from the Middle East. Our favourite from the Good Bye series is Aeli’s collaboration with Shawri on Little Too High. We’re looking forward to hearing much more from Aeli as the year unfolds.
