The Keith Haring capsule collection is the latest fresh release from cool music accessories brand AM Clean Sound. The Denmark firm has applied Haring’s famous artwork to a record tote bag, a record weight and anti-static record mat. The capsule collection also includes their original vinyl brush and a vinyl cleaning kit.
Graffiti Sub-Culture
We’re pretty sure Keith Haring – a regular face at New York’s famous Paradise Garage club – would approve. The American artists emerged from New York City’s graffiti sub-culture of the 1980s. His popularity grew from his spontaneous drawings in the city’s subways— chalk outlines of figures, dogs and other stylized images on blank black advertising spaces. After gaining public recognition, Haring created colorful larger scale murals and produced more than 50 public artworks between 1982 and 1989. His animated imagery has become “a widely recognized visual language” and his later work often conveyed political and societal themes — anti-crack, anti-apartheid, safe sex, homosexuality and AIDS — through his iconography. Haring died in 1990, aged 31, from Aids-related complications.
Haring was an avid clubber who always kept his Saturday nights free. Even at the height of his fame, the sought-after artist preferred to spend Saturday nights dancing to DJ Larry Levan’s tune selection at the Paradise Garage.
