Hey DJ! MDLBEAST Storm Shaker Competition is Your Chance to Shine

Calling all DJs in the UAE! Want to springboard your career and play at the most talked about festival in the region? Want to gain experience playing on the big stage? Dream of seeing your name on a line-up alongside the world’s biggest DJs? Then get involved with the MDLBEAST Storm Shaker DJ Competition. Winners will bag DJ slots at this year’s MDLBEAST Soundstorm festival and the inaugural XP Music Conference in Saudi. But best be quick – the deadline for submissions is Saturday 23 October.

MDLBEAST is on the hunt to find aspiring DJ talent regardless of experience. From bedroom DJs to those already bagging gigs, the competition is open to all. It’s open to all electronic genres too – from house and techno to EDM, trance and beyond.

“If you’re a DJ, we want to hear your set,” said MDLBEAST’s Head of Talent Talal Albahiti. “This is your chance to show us your style, technique and creativity. We are on a mission to unearth unseen talent so bedroom and established DJs are both welcome [to enter].”

Beyond the Norm

A panel of music industry experts – including DJs who performed at Soundstorm 2019 – will judge the competition. “Judges will evaluate sets based on track selection, originality, style, technique, skills and creativity,” said Albahiti. MDLBEAST’s talent chief advises entrants to steer clear of the obvious. “It’s certainly not about the big room bangers. Go beyond the norm and be yourself. Be inspired by a set or sound but don’t copy it. Diversity or new talent is absolutely where we’re at. We’re not looking for copies of established artists, originality is key here.”

Ten winners will DJ after dark at XP Music Conference. The three-day music conference, running from 13 – 15 December in Riyadh, precedes the Soundstorm mega fest. From the 10 winners, four ‘Storm Shakers’ will be selected to play at MDLBEAST Soundstorm. The four-day festival kicks off on 16 December.
