Legendary Club Brand Hedkandi Brings Shimmery Vibes to Zero Gravity
Nowhere does poolside and beach party brunches quite like Zero Gravity. And no-one plays shimmery feelgood house music quite like Hedkandi founder Mark Doyle. Put them together and what do you have? An epic Hedkandi Tropical Brunch, that’s what.
As we cruise into autumn, beach season is back. And so are Zero Gravity’s big party brunches. The venue’s Tropical Brunch – with its famous bottomless pineapple cup – returns each Friday from tomorrow, 17 September. And the award-winning Supernatural brunch is back on Saturdays. Both combine all-inclusive brunch with a full day in the sunshine by the venue’s pool or on its golden beach. Soundtracked by DJs and live musicians on the poolside stage, Zero Gravity’s weekend brunches are incredibly popular.
Takeover
Following this weekend’s relaunch, legendary UK club brand Hedkandi instigates a Tropical Brunch takeover next Friday, 24 September. Founder Mark Doyle will serve up the classic, feelgood house music and powerful diva vocals the brand is famous for. Expect shimmery poolside vibes until sunset from the Hedkandi team. With Tim Byham joining Doyle on deck duty, the Hedkandi takeover also features Sorya Vivian on vocals, Rob Shaw on percussion and Elara on saxophone.
Iconic
From its inception as a record label in 1999, Hedkandi bloomed into an iconic global clubbing brand. The compilation series – with its distinctive Jason Brooks’ artwork – sold millions of copies around the world. Although Doyle launched the label while working at Jazz FM, he never actually owned Hedkandi. Doyle and the brand parted ways when Jazz FM’s parent company was sold to GMG Radio and a bitter legal battle followed over Doyle’s rights to use Brooks’ illustrations on his new label ventures.
Reunited
That’s all in the past now though after GMG sold Hedkandi to Ministry of Sound. Savvy Ministry of Sound bosses reunited Mark Doyle with ‘his’ brand, inviting him to play most gigs on Hedkandi’s 20th Anniversary World Tour in 2019. Happily, Doyle’s now firmly entrenched in the brand again – and that’s exactly how it should be.
