ADE in Conversation Asks When Can We All Dance Again?
When can we dance again? It’s the big question here in Dubai and other cities around the world, as clubs reopen and festivals resume elsewhere. The question is central to a chat well worth tuning into. Tonight’s ADE in Conversation examines the different Covid-19 restrictions in place around the world and their impact on the live industry.
The topic is timely. “Last Saturday, people hit Dutch streets en masse under the banner of #UnmuteUs to speak up for the festival industry,” said ADE. “The most recent Covid restrictions impacting festivals and nightclubs have cast a new wave of uncertainty over the electronic music scene in the Netherlands, while surrounding countries are seeing a much different approach to events and nightlife.”
Decisions
Tonight’s edition of ADE in Conversation delves into “the effects of the virus and the current restrictions on the live industry in both the Netherlands and around the world”. Industry players will discuss how different countries are dealing with the Delta variant’s threat to events. They will examine “decisions that have resulted in it being OK to party in some countries but not in others”.
Moderated by techno baron Dave Clarke, the panel includes Jeroen van den Bogert, co-owner of BLiP and the United Independent Music Agencies, Berlin Nighttime Commission’s Lutz Leichsenring and Dusan Kovacevic, founder of Serbia’s EXIT Festival.
Under Threat
This year’s Amsterdam Dance Event in October is now under threat. While the Dutch government will lift almost all restrictions from 20 September onwards, it’s proposing nightclubs remain closed until November. Preparations for ADE will continue “until the Dutch government makes its definite decision on these proposed measures”. The Dutch government will announce its decision on or before 17 September.
So, yeah, ‘When can we dance again?’ is a hot topic right now. Register for tonight’s ADE in Conversation here. The live stream kicks off at 7pm.
