Great Tunes for Earth Day Inspired by our Amazing Planet
To celebrate Earth Day, we’re shining the spotlight on DJs for Climate Action and their latest awesome campaign. The non-profit organisation is compiling “one of the greenest records ever made” for dance music fans worldwide.
What’s it all about? Well, earlier this year, DJs for Climate Action launched the Climate Sample Pack. A free download, it’s packed with field recordings made by Greenpeace. Think Arctic ice claps, Amazonian storm loops, Pacific wave crashes, synth whales and other sounds from Mother Earth. After challenging producers to create original music using the samples, the organisation received over 300 tracks. Alongside up-and-coming producers, Acid Pauli, Fakear and Mark Farina delivered.
Green Vinyl
The most inspiring tracks will be released on a digital album. But a panel of expert judges – including BLOND:ISH and Ninja Tunes founder Matt Black – will choose tracks to feature on a unique double vinyl LP. The really cool bit? Dutch company Green Vinyl Records will press the Climate Soundtrack compilation using a pioneering new production process. Boasting energy savings of 60%, Green Vinyl’s method is free from toxic PVCs and plasticizers.
“We believe that culture and music can play an important role in the climate movement,” said DJs for Climate Action. “Our compilation is being pressed using the greenest vinyl in existence and we hope this process will become more ubiquitous. We hope more and more people will see the value of doing things differently for the future of our industry and for the world at large.”
A Kickstarter campaign is underway to fund the project. Any additional profit from album sales will be split between DJs for Climate Action and various environmental projects in locations where the samples were recorded.
While Earth Day is Thursday 22nd April 2021, DJs for Action Climate are throwing an online party on Sunday 25th April. Earth Night features B2B DJ sets and panel discussions. Find out more about that here.
