wAFF

wAFF is someone we could definitely hang out with. Not only is he an amazing DJ, wAFF admits he loves “being stupid”. Maybe we’ll invite him to go camel riding blindfolded. Or to abseil down the Burj Khalifa in a Spiderman costume. Jokes aside, we can hang with the British DJ and producer when he plays at Mantis, Dubai, on Friday 5th February.

A huge fan of the Burning Man festival in the US, wAFF was gutted not to play at his “favourite place on the planet” last year. Like festivals worldwide, Burning Man was cancelled due to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, he did play a set for Multiverse, Burning Man’s virtual festival. You can listen back to that set here.

wAFF’s World

An avid gaming fan, wAFF set up his gaming/entertainment channel on YouTube and twitch last May. wAFF’s World is “a mixture of computer gaming, game reviews, film reviews, trailer reactions, random entertainment and humour”. “I love gaming and I love films and I love being stupid,” said wAFF. If you’re not into gaming, there’s a great selection of his DJ mixes on there too.

Following his remix of Ronnie Spiteri’s Breathe, released on Alan Fitzpatrick’s We Are The Brave label, in September, wAFF has been busy making more music – everything from minimal to house to tech-house and techno.

Creative Journey

His own label should see the light of day soon. “There’s so many things I’ve got going on in my life right now – all good stuff,” said wAFF, via his latest update on wAFF’s World. “I’ve got my record label, which is 90% done. I’m so close to it being finished. I just can’t wait to show everybody.”

wAFF added: “I’m really happy and proud with what I’ve created so far. There’s been a lot of hard work put into getting the design right, getting the branding correct, and getting it all perfect, how I want, how I envision it. It’s been a really fun, creative journey but it’s been really challenging and hard work at the same time.”

No doubt wAFF will ramp up the fun factor when he plays at Mantis, alongside fellow Brit and Time Bandits boss Sanchez (UK). Mantis is in Emirates Financial Towers, Business Bay. Table reservations essential. Tables start from AED4000. Maximum 10 guests per table.
